Painter: Boronenko Vadim

Vadim Yurievich Boronenko - Painter's biography
Vadim Boronenko was born in 1973 in Lipetsk. From 1991 to 1996 he studied at the Lipetsk State Pedagogical University at the Faculty of Art and Graphics. He specialized in the restoration of paintings. Since 2002 he has been living and working in St. Petersburg. In 2005 he became a member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists of Russia. Participant of numerous exhibitions: city, Russian and international. Member of the International Association "Art of the Nations of the World", Association "Free Culture".
At the moment, the artist's plastic language is marked by greater orderliness and emphasized completeness. Here he consistently and, apparently, not casually gravitates towards geometric structures and more strict forms of organization of space than it was in the graphics of the early period: differently colored rectangles-planes, in their various configurations, are characteristic. Vadim Bo is a painter whose work has a complex philosophical foundation. It is necessary to scrutinize his works closely, try to unravel the complex specific code inherent in the simplest, but original compositional techniques. The artist's plastic language is marked by greater orderliness and emphasized completeness; he gravitates towards geometric structures and strict forms of organizing the plane of the canvas. The geometry passed through the painting (circle, sphere, cross) is freed from schematic rigidity. Painting is filled with color vibrations, it is warm and extremely saturated, but it also differs in texture richness. Vadim Bo often uses the collage method, introducing scraps of rough burlap, crumpled paper, and pieces of rusty metal into the picturesque structure. Sometimes the surface of his paintings is likened to an icon board that has darkened with time. And these associations are not accidental: “The Reverse Side of the Icon”, “Dark Boards”, “Hodegetria”, “Restoration”, “Burnt Icons” - these are the “talking” names of his pictorial cycles.
«Considering the work of Vadim Boronenko (Bo), his current most mature period, it would be a mistake to link the artist's experience to a certain clearly defined direction in contemporary art (be it abstractionism, metaphysical painting, surrealism, or something else). The artist overcomes rigid boundaries and builds bridges between abstraction and figurative, sign and image, form and infinity, Phenomenon and Mystery. He explores borderlands, subtle transitions and interactions. Here the very dualism of intellectual detached contemplation (sphere of the Spirit) and emotional-intuitive feeling (sphere of the Soul) is abolished...»
