Minimalism - paintings by contemporary artists in the online gallery
Minimalist paintings were a reaction against the painterly subjectivity of Abstract Expressionism, which dominated the New York school in the 50s of the 20th century. Minimalism is characterized by the maximum striving for simplicity of form, i.e. simplification of the complex through clear and even lines with a minimum number of colors in the image. The basis of the visual style was the reduction of the entire depicted plot to the foundations of geometric abstraction - understandable forms that evoke unusual feelings of depth of what is happening and give rise to the question "What did the author want to say with this?" Paintings by minimalist artists fit perfectly into working interiors, evoking feelings of mystery and ambiguity in those around them.
